Shopify Ready
Upload your supplier or product CSV. Autonom checks it against Shopify’s real import schema β duplicate SKUs, destructive handle overwrites, blank cells that will wipe live data, malformed prices β before you import. Safe auto-fixes are applied; dangerous changes are flagged for review.
See exactly which rows will overwrite live products, and which will create new ones.
Whitespace trimmed, prices cleaned, handles generated. Nothing that could corrupt data.
Every issue tells you which rows to review. No hunting through 10,000 lines.
One click produces a Shopify-ready file. Original file is never modified.

π Managing a large catalog or multiple suppliers?
Autonom Pro adds batch processing, supplier column mapping, and a CSV history log so you can track what changed between imports.
Why Shopify CSV imports break live stores
A CSV import is the fastest way to add or update thousands of products in Shopify. It is also the fastest way to destroy them. The Shopify importer is powerful and unforgiving: it will happily overwrite existing products, blank out fields you did not mean to touch, and merge variants into the wrong parent β all without a warning until after the damage is done.
The worst part is that the errors are silent. A supplier sends a CSV with an empty
Variant Price cell. Shopify imports it. That product’s price becomes
blank. It stops selling. You find out three days later when a customer complains.
Shopify Ready catches that before you click import.
What Autonom Shopify Ready checks
Destructive handle overwrites
If the same Handle appears multiple times with different Titles, Shopify will keep the first Title and silently ignore the rest. We flag every case.
Duplicate SKUs
Duplicate SKUs cause Shopify to merge variants into the wrong product, breaking inventory tracking. We detect and list every affected row.
Blank-cell destruction
Blank cells in optional columns will overwrite existing values with blank on re-import. We warn when this pattern is likely.
Price and currency format
Prices containing $, β¬, or thousand separators fail silently. We strip them safely and show what changed.
Missing handles and titles
Rows without a Handle or Title cannot import. We auto-generate handles from Titles and flag missing Titles.
Option name consistency
Variant rows belonging to the same product must share the same Option1 Name. Inconsistent names create separate products instead of variants.
Image URL format
Image Src must be an absolute HTTPS URL. Relative paths and HTTP URLs fail silently and leave products without images.
Published and inventory values
Published must be TRUE or FALSE. Variant Inventory Qty must be an integer. Non-conforming values are ignored by Shopify.
Malformed HTML in descriptions
Unclosed HTML tags in the Body (HTML) column can break your storefront theme. We detect the most common case.
UTF-8 BOM detection
Excel often adds a hidden byte-order mark that breaks CSV parsers. We detect and strip it.
Safe auto-fixes vs. flagged issues
Autonom applies only the fixes that are provably safe. Everything else is flagged for human review.
- Auto-fixed: whitespace trimming, currency symbol removal from prices, thousand-separator normalization, missing handles generated from Titles, UTF-8 BOM stripping.
- Flagged, never auto-fixed: duplicate SKUs, destructive handle overwrites, inconsistent option names, malformed HTML, invalid image URLs, non-integer inventory, invalid Published values.
The reason is simple: silently changing an SKU or a handle could break inventory in a way that is much worse than refusing to import. We take the same position a careful consultant would β review, then fix.
How to check a Shopify CSV in 3 steps
- Upload the CSV β drag it onto the drop zone or choose a file. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
- Review the Danger Report β see exactly which rows are safe, which will be auto-fixed, and which will overwrite live products.
- Download the cleaned CSV β one click produces a Shopify-ready file. Back up your store, then import.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my CSV uploaded to any server?
No. Every check runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your CSV is read from disk, parsed locally, and written back to a new file β nothing is transmitted.
Can Autonom tell if my handles already exist in my store?
No. We do not connect to your store. We can detect destructive patterns within the CSV itself β the same handle appearing multiple times with different Titles β but we cannot tell you which handles are already live. Always back up before importing.
Will Autonom change my product data automatically?
Only for fixes that are provably safe: whitespace, currency symbols in prices, missing handles generated from Titles. Anything that could corrupt inventory or overwrite live data is flagged and left unchanged for you to review.
Does it work with Shopify’s full CSV template?
Yes. The tool reads any CSV with Shopify-compatible headers. Missing optional columns are not treated as errors β only missing required columns (Handle, Title) will block import.
What about WooCommerce, Etsy, or Amazon?
Not yet. The rules differ per platform. This version is Shopify-specific because the failure modes are well-documented and deterministic.
Can I use the cleaned CSV commercially?
Yes. The output is your file. No attribution, no watermark, no restrictions.
